Nick Saban is retiring. So Auburn fans rolled Toomer’s Corner.

Rolling the famous oak trees at Toomer’s Corner is supposed to be reserved to celebrate Auburn wins. The current set of trees were planted in 2017 in a long odyssey of repairing a college football landmark since a 2010 poisoning.

But on Wednesday, in the hours after news broke of legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban being set to retire, Auburn fans flung toilet paper on the branches to celebrate.

As the minutes passed and the news spread, more toilet paper came as if the football team had won a game.

Auburn beat Nick Saban just five times in 17 Iron Bowl matchups. It will now hope to celebrate a football win over the Crimson Tide and whoever succeeds Saban — for the first time since 2019.
